Memphis Botanic Gardens

I spent the afternoon at the Memphis Botanic Gardens, most was in the Butterfly Garden. If you are in the Memphis area, I encourage you to check it out. I'm hoping to have some photo sessions there sometime soon. I won't chat too much about nature, I barely know the difference in a weed or a plant. 

So here are a few of my favorites. 

A Day with Friends

I had the pleasure of taking some really sweet pictures today. Melissa's daughter Elizabeth and her friend Madison were so much fun and were up for anything. While I'm still learning a lot about photography, I was able to capture some great smiles and sweet moments. 

Sweet Memphis Couple

Meet Clay & Chelsi and their adorable dog Buddy. With guest appearances by Kipp and Campbell. The weather was beautiful today in Memphis, breezy and 73. Such a welcomed change, this heat has every one exhausted and ready for fall. 

We had originally planned to walk to the park and take a few photos there. However, when I pulled up to their house, I feel in love with their porch! It's adorable.

Nature Walks

I took my younger 2 boys on a walk along the river today. We had a good time, the weather was fabulous and both boys enjoyed the fresh air. It's been so hot outside lately, I can't do the heat of summer here. Especially with kids.

My sweetie Mason was so patient today and posed for a few pictures. This is rare. 

Baby Practice

I read somewhere that as a budding photographer, you will take 1,000's of pictures just of your own kids. As mothers, we do this anyway, now imagine making them pose all the time, poor babies. My daughter is already burnt out. She's been amazing though. 

Every once in awhile I can get my 8 month old to sit still long enough to snap a few shots. Once they're mobile, it becomes difficult.

Smashing Cakes

This was my first smash cake session. Actually, I take that back, I took pictures a few years ago when our 4 year old was turning one. I wish I could find them, but sadly I wasn't very responsible with my memory cards or hard drives. *sigh*

Anyway, my friend Heather was so kind to let me practice while her sweet baby enjoyed some cake. While my lighting wasn't great in most photos, I feel confident that for my "training," a few gems were captured. 

And on to Addy Jane, balloons and chocolate cake!
